HO HO HO Merry Christmas to all!!!
Yes amazingly that is me, I was asked to as a favour to go and be Santa at an old people home the other day, they loved it and so did I.
Anyway I am flying home on Thursday 20th December and will be around until January 3rd when i fly back out to Charleston, South Carolina.
I am getting very excited about seeing you all, I'll be at my Mum's most of the time so you can call me there.
Hope you are all well and in good cheer!
Man it feels like this movie has been coming to theatres for ages due to the year long trailers but also as Warner Bros nearly made it in 1994 with Arnie! In 2002 Will Smith was on board only to turn it down for Bad Boys II and because 28 Days Later came out that year and was so similar.I am still trying to work out what i thought of the film i loved the opening scenes and Will Smith was incredible in a difficult role, not that unlike Tom Hanks in Castaway re: being the only actor for 90% of the film. It was interesting that God was involved but then he always is when the world falls apart, but this was more real and less cynical. The fact that we need to listen to Him and that He has a plan for us even in this awful situation was intriguing. Will Smith's relationship with his German Shepherd was so cool and yet sad in fact it was very sad movie throughout dealing with loss, suffering and loneliness. However i didn't like that there was so much CGI especially the animals and the infected 'Darkseekers' who looked uncannily like the CGI characters from I-Robot. This film was imense with human tragedy and emotion but nearly ruined by CGI characters that were lifeless and empty. It felt short and rushed from half way through and the ending was the result of that process, this was a film with epic landscapes and emotions but lacking due to the contrasting style of action and deep apocalyptic movies that made it feel muddled. This didn't ruin the experience, but it did leave a funny taste in the mouth.A grandiose piece but not what i was expecting. (3/5)
. . . for the first time in over two months and i know this sounds madness but i had forgotten what rain was like and was a little weirded out! This week its been between 70/80 degrees F so about 20/25 degrees C for all my Engerland friends :) Thankfully it will get down to the 50's (10-15 degrees C) come Monday otherwise i will get a cold as soon as i land in London on Thursday; so my Sister says!Well its a been a fun couple of weeks as i've been able to be more and more active. I went hiking in North Carolina with my friends above which was hard but my knee was fine and we had such a fun time. I will add more photos soon or if you are impatient go to my facebook page and check them out. I have also been running and on Friday night i went ice skating for our high school Christmas Party and i was okay, thank you Father! We are wrapping up (no pun intended) all our youth programs this weekend for Christmas and i will have attended 5 parties in a week and had to miss 2 others, yes its a crazy life! Tomorrow morning our 15 9th Grade students who got confirmed will have a special brunch and share their testimonies (how God has changed their lives, saved them or been there) and then in the afternoon we will have a party for our Middle Schoolers (Storm - which i head up) and give out prizes for attendence to those who have been the most committed. The picture below was from a week last Monday, i was driving home from physical therapy and i caught the sunset in my rearview mirror and i said to myself "i've gotta see that from the beach" and this was the result. I live minutes from the beach on Isle of Palms and this is where i stood as i looked up into the beautiful sky my Heavenly Father had created. WOW was all i could say as i saw it fade into darkness. What a blessing to live where i do - thank you God.
